Admissions

We welcome students who have sustained interest in our research directions and are willing to commit to long-term research training. Because the Institute adopts a committee-based unified admissions process, applicants must first complete the formal application according to the Institute’s requirements and obtain the corresponding admission qualification. After obtaining the qualification, you are welcome to further communicate with us about joining the group. If you have not obtained the corresponding qualification from the Institute, or if your email is relatively general and does not reflect a basic understanding of our research directions, we may not be able to reply individually. Thank you for your understanding.

1. Students We Hope to Work With

1. Good Health and a Positive Attitude

Research requires long-term commitment. We hope students are healthy, positive, and able to maintain a proactive attitude toward solving problems when facing difficulties and setbacks. The group also encourages everyone to actively participate in physical exercise and maintain a healthy rhythm of life and mental state outside research training.

2. Research Interests Aligned With the Group

Before contacting us, please learn about our research directions, recent work, and representative papers in advance. In your email, we suggest focusing on one clear direction and explaining your understanding, interests, existing background, and the problems you hope to further explore.

3. Initiative, Communication, and the Ability to Keep Moving Work Forward

Research requires strong self-motivation. We hope applicants are reliable, able to think proactively, communicate progress in a timely manner, execute well, and maintain a dependable, open, and responsible working style in collaboration.

4. Valuing Teamwork While Gradually Developing Independence

A research group is a team that grows together. Our group values openness, mutual support, and high-quality collaboration, and we also hope every student can actively contribute to the team. We hope students can both participate in collaboration and gradually develop the ability to think and conduct research independently through training.

2. Communication and Matching Before Joining

1. Communicate Fully With Group Members

Before formally joining, we encourage applicants to actively learn about the group’s research directions, recent work, and the research topics of different members, and to communicate fully with the advisor and senior group members. Through preliminary communication, both sides can initially assess whether research interests, working styles, and long-term development goals are well matched.

2. Mutual Understanding Through Group Meetings, Project Discussions, or Short-Term Collaboration

Applicants are usually expected to get to know the group through group meeting presentations, project discussions, short-term collaboration, or similar forms of interaction. Based on the applicant’s research interests and project needs, the group will match suitable senior members for day-to-day research discussions and project progress. Formal academic supervision remains the shared responsibility of the advisor and the research group.

3. Confirming Fit Through a Period of Research Participation

For students who have obtained admission qualification and intend to formally join the group, in principle, they are expected to participate in research communication and topic exploration within the group for no less than 3 months (the start time can be discussed). During this period, discussions and staged work will be carried out around a clear research direction, with necessary guidance and feedback provided by the advisor and group members. This process is mainly intended to help both sides further understand the fit in research interests, collaboration style, and long-term development.

4. Mutual Choice and Formal Joining

The group will comprehensively consider research fit, collaboration style, communication, staged commitment, and completion of work before making a final decision on formal joining. We also encourage applicants, after fully understanding the group, to carefully judge whether they are suited to the group’s research pace and training style.

3. Support Provided by the Research Group

1. Sufficient Guidance and Staged Feedback

The group holds regular meetings and encourages open discussion and timely feedback. During research progress, the advisor and group members will provide appropriate guidance according to specific problems, helping students clarify staged goals, organize research ideas, and solve difficulties encountered in the process. The group will also match suitable senior members according to research interests and project needs to assist with day-to-day research discussions and project progress.

2. Research Resources and Academic Exchange Support

The group will provide necessary computing resources, data resources, experimental support, code and project experience sharing, and other support according to specific research needs. The group encourages students to actively participate in academic exchange. For students who achieve staged research progress, the group will provide financial support for attending academic conferences, carrying out collaborations inside and outside the group, applying for relevant projects, and related activities.

3. Long-Term Development and Personal Planning Support

The group values the long-term growth of every student. We will help students plan research paths, accumulate representative achievements, and provide advice and support within our capacity for further study, employment, internships, collaboration, and academic exchange, based on each student’s interests, abilities, and future goals.

4. Research Assistant Support and Group Atmosphere

On the basis of relevant university and Institute regulations, the group will provide corresponding research assistant support according to research participation and project progress. The group will also organize other exchange activities to foster an open, mutually supportive, and positive group atmosphere.
